Charity of the Month

MyStrong Campaign is our Charity of the Month.

The 5-8 week program is the brain child of Shelly Montemurro from The Litte Sweatshop in Sherwood Park, AB. It was born from the desire to help girls aged 8-14 build their confidence and find their “strong”. 

The program runs twice a year with only 8-12 young ladies which allows the team to really personalize the activities, topics and discussions to meet the girls exactly where they’re at. The activities range from physical exercise including boxing, charity work within the local community, woodworking and many other skill building adventures. 

They’ve also partnered with a great Organization called A Circle of Angels that blesses people that have endured a tragedy with handmade angels. The girls enjoy making the angels and learning about the power in giving and blessing others in the midst of hard stuff. It’s very impactful as it shows that they CAN make a difference in the world around them. This amazing group is called Y-CREW which stands for: YOUNG CONFIDENT RESPECTFUL EMPOWERED WORTHY. It’s a fabulous way of reaching the misfits, the quirky, the girls who might not have a sense of “belonging” or feel lost in their own skin. This is their skulk, their crew, their village. This is MYStrong.
